The Young Lairds Visit the Old Lairds - part 2

Jackie and his parents came to visit us on Quadra. It was a wonderful week that went by way too quickly. This is part 2 of a 2 part blog entry. Part 1 will follow. This program is driving me crazy!

When grandparents baby sit...stuff baby in a hamper.

Let baby play with his V reader - naked.

Apple picking time. We are picking transparents which are good for cooking. I am making apple chutney and also freezing apples to use for porridge and desserts.

Time out to inspect a pumpkin

Legs are more fun to paint than legs.

Ta da!

Hiding from the HOT sun in the tent Thad built.

Rowan's 4th birthday party. It was a  pirate theme.. How lucky Jackie was here to join in the fun.
Baby Ru, the newest addition to the Sutil Road neighborhood.

Nana Val and the pinata she made for the party.

The birthday boy takes a whack.

Jackie takes a turn.

Ahh, nude pinata whacking. (Miwa in action.)

The boys checking out Rowan's computer

Another treasure hunt. This one's clues were balloons that match a piece of paper with your name on it.

Miwa in her Chinese dress and pirate hat
What a party! Besides a treasure there was a sandbox...

And a pool.
And then Nana Val's pirate ship cake.

Delicious!
All too soon it is the last day...Much more interesting than the last walk to the beach was a large slug.

"Hi slug, what 'ywe' name?"
We had a farewell lunch at Moxie's in Campbell River. This is the dessert that comes with the kid's meals. Jackie wasn't too sure what to think at first. It is a shrimp cocktail dish with ice cream in the top and dry ice in the bottom. When it is served the waitperson pours warm water over the ice and look what happens. What a great idea and what fun. I'm going to get some of those dishes and some dry ice!

Sleeping in the car on the way home. The Huaqvarna cap was a gift from captain and was rarely off Jackie's head.
