May On Quadra

Finally photos of our time on Quadra in May. What better way to start than sunrises.

The snow covered peak is called Breast Mountain...

The busy beach and ocean

Fantastic colors and shapes in some drift wood

This driftwood looks like a pair of legs

Kelp dried on to a rock
May seems to be the best month for spotting eagles. This is an eagle nest. We didn't see any eaglets but teenage and adult eagles were all around us.
This fellow looks like he has had a rough day.

Simple beautiful

Keeping an eye on things.

Another beauty

Almost like a dance

Soaring higher and higher

An eagle at dawn
Mia and Doni - neighborhood strolling with glasses of wine.

Evening contemplation

Middle Natch Island at sunset

Unfinished totem pole on its side...this is a whale, the face on the top is its spout.
Truly gross, disgusting, nasty and awful...tent caterpillars. They build their nets and then proceed to chew up the trees.

We got as many tents as we could and then built a fire and cooked them.  Doni is having a caterpillar roast. Lots of fires happening!
The Captain with his favorite toy
Hauling wood from the downed fir
...and from the beach

...to make a fire

...for a picnic.

The sun is setting and a heron is flying by

Lizzy and Dee Lowery came to visit in their camper. We had a great time showing them our island. Last time they visited we had just bought the house and it was in the midst of its first renovation.

Aloha Lizzy and Dee. They are off to Port Hardy and the ferry to Alaska.
Buck sitting on the big fir tree we lost in the wild March storm. Lucky for us it wasn't near the house.

The tree..it clipped the out house but it's okay. We also have indoor plumbing.

See how large the roots are?

Lovely sunset

Deb, Dave and Mia in the new/improved veggie garden.

Rainbow over Sutil Channel.

Always something going on in the channel.

Another interesting water craft.
