Assisi and Rome Part 2

On the road to Assisi for 2 nights. Lunch in a wine shop in Castiglione del Lago on the shore of Lago (Lake) Trasimeno.

Assisi
Again, old buildings, windows, flowers

And narrow streets.

Same spot with traffic...we had to duck onto a doorway so he didn't run over us.
Steps up to the fort above the town. We found a cafe up the steps and went both nights for a glass of wine and the view.

God's rays and a dark sky

How can St Francis be both ways?

Ah, there he is..St Francis himself.

Once again, all of Italy seems to be where we are.
Wild boar salami
The boar who made the salami.

Street named for who?

Singing Nuns and priest

                                                  Rome

A well decorated camper

Ruins are everywhere

The Circus Maximus

The Tiber River

Cool, shady walk along the river, away from the crowds, on a hot day

Give a Roman an inch and they park their Smart Car.

Oh lunch, yummy lunch

Delicious
Busy market at Campo di Fiori. We enjoyed watching the coming and goings from our ringside table at lunch.

Even the Gladiators have to eat.

This is not the famous fountain of Trevi. It was covered in scaffolding.

Winged Victory statue on the top of a building. There we actually 2 of them.

More ruins

Not a ruin..a happy guy enjoying a glass of wine in the patio off our room at the Hotel Lancelot.

More enjoying

This American sounding menu cracked me up and then I wondered if the Italians get a laugh over our Italian restaurants.
There he is...Julius himself.

These are not the famous Spanish Steps...

We heard they were covered with people so decided to find our own steps.
Back to Campo Di Fiori for lunch, it was so hot I decided to have a beer.

Buck can't believe his eye seeing me drink beer.

When in Rome and thirsty...drink from a fountain.
Last evening, delicious dinner at the restaurant at the top of Hotel Capo D'Africa.

And views of the sun setting behind the Coloseum

May 7 - arrivederci Italy

USA and Canada here we come.
A great trip but it is always good to get home.
