Two Men and A Husqvarna

This is the story of two men and their Huaqvarna. Buck and John yearned for a ride-on mower and finally no longer being able to stand their deprivation they bought one.
Buck is bringing the orange baby home from Campbell River. We've nicknamed it Bob in honor of Bob who cuts hair in the Cove.

This is as close as Doni will ever get to riding it.

Now to get it off the truck.

I got it started!!

Buck supervising John's mowing. We hope there won't be fights over whose turn it is.

Two happy men and their Husqvarna.

Whales Galore

Day before yesterday we were at the beach when a large pod of orcas swam by. They didn't seem to be in any hurry. They played and had a grand time. Imagine the view this guy in his little boat had!

At one point this whale turned around and went to talk things over with the whale bringing up the rear. The one in the rear had a huge fin and was probably the male.

The fin and another boat with a great view.

Part of the pod.

Mountains, a loon, a ferry and a whale..can't beat that view.

Tour Of The Finally Finished New Rooms

At last the work is done and we are fairly well settled in our new spaces. The furniture is in place however, the walls are bare so they are next on our list.
Here you can see the whole house. Notice how green the grass is after a couple of good rains.

Te addition from our neighbor's driveway.

This is the studio window.

The bedroom window.

Flowerless bed beneath bedroom window. We have put rock and driftwood around the new addition so we don't have to worry about weeds or watering.

Along the side of the house.

The stoop and the back door into the studio.

Inside studio door. Bed, work table and window.

The red door to my studio. Actual color is called ginger jar.

My computer station and the back door.

The beautiful cherry wood shelves.

Down the hall to the bedroom.

Looking in from the hall.

One corner, the accent wall and my chest of drawers.. This window faces north.

Another corner, Buck's dresser and the window.

The fabulous view from our windows.

The cathedral ceiling.

Looking towards the bedroom door to the hall.

Looking from the bedroom into the closet. Bathroom to the right.

The bathroom.

The sink.

Tile close up.

Down the hall to the studio.

A few changes in the 'old' part of the house. The baker's rack is in the dining area. The desk went to Buck's office.

Buck's office and the guestroom beyond the livingroom.

We rearranged the furniture.

The turtle in the door into the laundryroom. made by the same woman who made the otter on the back door.

That's all folks. Now you need to come see all of this in person.

Mt. Washington

We spent Saturday night, Sept. 5, at Mt. Washington attending a food festival and celebrating Mia's birthday. We had a wonderful roast chicken dinner (our own festival of food) and the next day the fest was delicious fun. Lots of booths sponsored by local food businesses. We bought tickets and for 1 or 2 of them got samples of the vendors' wares. Sarah's pasta booth was a huge success. Mia, John, Sarah and Derek worked hard keeping people fed.
This view is from the condo where we stayed. The nob on the left side of the mountain is where the native people in this area tied their canoes during their great flood. There are evidently other peaks like this around. One is called The Anchor.

John Sprungman and Buck chatting.

Sheri Sprungman, Derek and Saoirse.

Cheers. Buck, Sarah, Mia.

Happy Birthday Mia!

The Hall's Visit

Sam, Barbara and Kate Hall spent the last few days camping at our beach. What fun to have them here and to get to know both Barbara and Little Miss Kate.
Here Sam and Kate have just climbed up the trail from the beach. Note he is also carrying a large bag of laundry - what a guy!

Kate saying cheese.

This girl loves her ice cream!

It's a bag, it's a hat.

Kate doing her chores.

Coming up the path with her mom.

The vanette at the beach and in front of our house.

The three Halls.

Going down the drive, headed for the 3pm ferry, but there was an overload so the had to wait for the four!
